It has AMOLED display which makes Galaxy M30 ideal for larger, higher definition displays with a lot of pixels. Display of Galaxy M20 was good, but the AMOLED panel on the M30 is simply better than others which is currently available at the same price.

There is an option to choose among four different colors, and the maximum brightness is good enough for occasional usage under direct sun.

There is an option available to black out the status bar and hide the notch.

Performance and Software

The Galaxy M30 has the same Exynos 7904 chipset that we see on Galaxy M20. Simply put, this octa-core mobile platform is rather mediocre and falls short of Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 660 that are other options available in the same price range.

It doesn’t face any issues with regular usage, even when using  multiple apps. The base variant, the one that we are testing, has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and a dedicated card slot. Or in other words, we expect the performance to hold well in the long term.

Both the fingerprint sensors and face unlock are  fast.

Galaxy M30 runs in Samsung’s Experience UI and One UI. It’s run on Android Oreo(9.00, but Samsung assures that the Pie update is under works. What differentiates a good interface from a not-so-good interface are usually subtle refinements and simplicity of usage, but it’s still a subjective matter.

Unlike the Galaxy M20, the M30 has dual-band Wi-Fi support.

Camera Performance

The other two rear cameras remain same – a 13MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture lens, and a 5MP wide-angle shooter with f/2.2 aperture.

We haven’t noticed any major improvement in the camera performance over M20. Yes the images do look significantly better when compared on phone screen, but that’s mostly because of the AMOLED panel on M30.

Battery and Audio

The battery backup on the Galaxy M30 is excellent. It has 5000mAH lithium-ion battery with 3x fast charge. The phone can easily last for a day of heavy usage, it supports fast charging with 15W Type-C fast charger. All of that makes the Galaxy M30 perfectly apt for consumers who prioritize battery backup above all else. The audio output via loudspeaker at the bottom is fairly decent.
